Practical Use

AWS Support has five plans: Basic, Developer, Business, Enterprise On-Ramp, and Enterprise. Among these, Basic Support is the free support plan included by default with every AWS account. The scope of Basic Support is limited to 24/7 customer service for account and billing inquiries, the core checks of AWS Trusted Advisor (6 items), AWS Personal Health Dashboard, service quota increase requests, and access to documentation, whitepapers, and support forums. It does not include responses to technical questions or an SLA for production workloads. On the exam, Basic Support is the expected answer for the prompt asking which basic support plan is available to all AWS accounts. Common distractors include Developer Support (for individual developers and non-production workloads), Business Support (for production workloads), and Enterprise Support (for mission-critical workloads). The other three plans are all paid and therefore contradict the condition of being included with every account. In practice, plans at Developer Support and above allow technical case opening. Features such as case response SLAs, the full set of Trusted Advisor checks (the 6 core checks plus over 100 additional checks), Infrastructure Event Management, and a dedicated AWS Technical Account Manager (TAM) are added in tiers according to the plan. CLF-C02 repeatedly asks about the differences in coverage among the five plans, especially the tiered structure of "Basic cannot open technical cases," "24/7 technical support starts at Business," and "a TAM is included at Enterprise." The number of AWS Trusted Advisor checks (6 core for Basic and Developer, the full set for Business and above) is also a frequently tested point.
